LOEWE Illuminates Salone del Mobile with Stunning Artist-Made Lamp Collection

April 16, 2024

Luxury fashion house LOEWE is illuminating Salone del Mobile 2024 with its most ambitious artist collaboration yet - an awe-inspiring collection of 24 lamps designed by renowned international artists. Titled "LOEWE Lamps," this extraordinary exhibition at Palazzo Citterio from April 15-21 showcases the creative genius of artists who have longstanding relationships with the brand.

For the first time, artistic luminaries like ceramicist Magdalene Odundo, painter Alvaro Barrington, and bamboo master Hafu Matsumoto have ventured into lamp design, manipulating light through innovative techniques and diverse materials. From leather and bamboo to lacquer and glass, each lamp is a mesmerizing interplay of form and illumination, drawing inspiration from natural and man-made objects.

Highlights include Genta Ishizuka's amorphous, lacquer-finished organic cell that utilizes his signature urushi lacquer technique, with layers stripped back to reveal glimmers of gold finishing that enhance the gentle glow emanating from within. Enrico David's table lamp encapsulates his interest in the human form as a site of metamorphosis, resembling a standing arched figure with its face silhouetted against an illuminated onyx disc. Zizipho Poswa's standing lamp, composed of ceramic, glass and bronze, takes the form of a hand-coiled vessel propping up a bowl of lit orbs - a nod to the coiled pot-making traditions of her Xhosa heritage.

Extending its commitment to craftsmanship, LOEWE also unveils homeware collections by renowned artisans, featuring woven leather accessories, intricately woven calfskin baskets, and nappa lambskin bowls in 21 unique colorways.

Don't miss this transcendent fusion of fashion, art, and innovative design at LOEWE's spellbinding "LOEWE Lamps" exhibition - a multisensory experience celebrating the boundless possibilities of creativity and collaboration.
